Annual Property Income and Expense Return Campaign Now Underway

Over the last few months as I have attended conferences and met with industry partners, I’ve shared my excitement for the enhancements we were working on to improve the customer experience in our assessment information request portal.

Collecting information about properties across Ontario is an important part of MPAC’s role and legislative mandate. In May, we launched our largest collection campaign with the Property Income and Expense Return which included a number of online enhancements for our customers.

During this campaign, property data is collected from more than 35,000 income-generating properties, including retail stores, hotels, motels, multi-residential buildings, golf courses, offices and industrial malls. This allows our assessors to access timely information directly from property owners to help us better understand changes in Ontario’s property landscape while maintaining accurate property records. The deadline for owners to submit this information to MPAC is July 14, 2025.

This year, the online request portal offers streamlined navigation, a new summary tab and an option to pre-populate 2024 submissions to save time and effort. Available through MPAC AboutMyProperty (mpac.ca), the new portal makes it easy to submit information supporting owner compliance as required under the Assessment Act.

While owners are encouraged to submit their information through the online portal, they can also provide completed forms through hard copy or email and MPAC also offers B2B options as well as other file-sharing solutions. To learn more, visit mpac.ca/AIR or contact us at industry@mpac.ca.

We are always looking to enhance and continually improve the customer experience, and we ask for feedback from industry on the new portal and information collection campaign through a number of ways. This includes an exit survey available when you complete your submission through MPAC AboutMyProperty, sending feedback to industry@mpac.ca directly and through a planned online survey for later this year.

Keep up to date with MPAC
