Tidal Bore Guide & Information
A tidal bore is a strong tide that pushes up a river, against the current. This forms a single giant wave that rolls up the river.  Moncton’s tidal bore is caused by the Bay of Fundy tides as they push more than 100 billion tons of water in and out of the bay, up the Petitcodiac River.  This incredible phenomenon occurs twice a day.  The tidal bore can reach heights ranging from 0.5 to 1 metre!
